This
table attempts to list all known Lodestars with an Australian connection.
Specifically excluded, are foreign military or civilian examples which visited
and departed without taking up an Australian identity or without being operated
by the RAAF on loan. Lodestars which took up an Australian (or subsequent
New Zealand) civil registration and loaned aircraft for which RAAF status
cards were raised, have separate pages listing their histories. These pages
are referenced by hotlinks in the following table. Aircraft with separate
pages are listed under their last Australian identity, be that a civil registration
or RAAF serial number or callsign. New Zealand Lodestars which did not have
an Australian identity are not listed in this table or on separate pages.
Notable exceptions to the above policy which have been included in the following
table are several Lodestars which, although they did not take up an Australian
identity, are known to have "ended their days" on Australian soil. Another notable exception to this policy concerns the Lodestars which served in the Dutch East Indies. A large percentage of these aircraft came to Australia and took up Australian identities and are therefore included in the following table. The remainder, although regular visitors to Australia, were destroyed in Dutch service, indeed some on Australian soil. In the interests of completeness, all of the Dutch Lodestars have been listed on a separate page. Please see A Note on Radio Callsigns at the foot of this page. Symbol indicates a linked image. |

This disproves the earlier belief that VHCEH was written off and scrapped
in JUL44.

NOTE ON RADIO CALLSIGNS
|
|
For
further information on wartime radio callsigns, one could do no
better than refer to Geoff Goodall's Aviation History Site at the
links below. Geoff has researched this subject over many years and
his research has been updated as recently as August 2022. Feed-back,
corrections or additions are most welcome, but it should be noted
that changes must have a reference, rather than just a discrepancy
with another compiled listing.
