A ceremony was held at RAAF Edinburgh on 26 May 1978 to welcome the arrival of the first P-3C A9-751. Dignitaries present included the Hon. J. E. McLeay, Minister Assisting the Minister of Defence, Mr W. M. Hawkins, President of Lockheed California and Mr J. Brown, Acting Mayor of Adelaide along with their wives and service chiefs.
