This page is dedicated to the memory of Gil White. It was Gil who compiled this listing and the companion listing of TAA Electra crew members (his father was a TAA Electra Captain). Gil's work in this area of research also inspired the creation of similar listings of Qantas Electra, Constellation and Boeing 707 crew members. Gil passed away in Melbourne on 26 June 2006 after a long illness, knowing that his work and this dedication would be preserved in perpetuity.

This list was compiled by Gil White whose father was a TAA Electra Captain. As the numerical imbalance between Captains and First Officers and Flight Engineers suggests, this list is in no way complete. Any additions or corrections will be most welcome and these should be forwarded to the Webmaster Ron Cuskelly, who will continue to maintain the list in Gil's memory. Please be sure to include the aircraft type and operator as the Webmaster maintains several of these crew lists. Obviously, it has not been possible to seek the approval of every person on this list, so in the unlikely event that any person does not wish to be included in such distinguished company, that person's wishes will be respected. Added F/E Vince Jones thanks to his sons Barry, Peter and David Jones who also supplied the following biography. "Qualified with the RAAF as a Flight Mechanic in Jan 1943. Discharged 5 Dec 1945. Joined TAA in early 1949. Qualified as a Ground Engineer on 4 March 1953. Subsequently joined ANA and qualified as a Flight Engineer in 1957 (Flight Engineer Licence No 87 issued 13 Aug 1957) on DC-6Bs. Obtained Basic Turbine qualification at exam on 22 Jul 1958. His F/E Licence shows him qualified for the DC-6B, L-188A, B727-100 and B727-200. He retired on 28 Dec 1976 (having reached the compulsory retiring age). He died in Brisbane on 3 Aug 2006, age 89."

Peter Harris and Don Johnston have contributed the following two additions to the F/E list: "Bob Holder ex Qantas apprentice started with Ansett as FE on L188 in 1964, went to Cathay in 1965 as FE on L188, then Convair 880, B707 and B747, returned Australia around 1993. Lived on Gold Coast. Bob died approx 12 mths ago. Bernie Gocher ex Qantas apprentice started with Ansett 1964 as FE on L188 same as Bob Holder. I think it was about early 1966 he went back to Qantas on B707. Was involved in training Ansett FEs on SIA B747-300. Retired living Sydney."

Danielle Rodgers advises that her late father, Bill Rodgers, was a Captain on the Electra. He joined Ansett-MAL in 1965 flying DC-3, Caribou and F.27. He transferred to Ansett in 1974 and flew F.27, Electra and B737. He retired in 1986 because of ill health and passed away in 1990.

Ken White advises that he was a Captain on Electras from January 1974 until May 1978. Prior to joining Ansett he was an Electra LAME with Qantas rated on the airframe & engine as well as an electrical extension, from 1960 until he left Qantas in 1963.
