L-10A Electra VH-UXH at Cootamundra on 11 February 1938. The photographer, George Frederick Raper, was a textile engineer from Bradford UK, taking a world tour which included a spell on a sheep farm near Hay. On 11th February, 1938, he wrote home to his parents from Sydney: "I'm going up to a sheep-station for a few days. It can only be reached by air from here, so I leave today at 1 p.m. on the Adelaide plane (a Lockheed Electra) and get out at Hay after a 3 hours flight (500 miles) i.e. if it doesn't crash! Tomorrow I get a small plane to Deniliquin in the Western Riverina district and then motor to Baratta where I stay with the manager".
