Tommy Pethybridge and Captain Mullins of the Pioneer sent this cablegram from Suva, Fiji on the morning of 30 October 1934. It would have been delivered to Smithy and P.G. Taylor after their arrival at Wheeler Field, Hawaii on 29 October, the aircraft having crossed the International Date Line. Captain James Patrick Mullins (c1893-1969) was the master of the Fiji Government vessel HMCS Pioneer which had been made available to support the Altair's departure from Naselai Beach.
