A89-276 on the western apron at Brisbane Eagle Farm on 7 November 1971. The aircraft had departed Townsville for Amberley the previous day under the command of Sqn Ldr R.R. Tayles to search for a fisherman lost in a small boat off Currumbin. The aircraft searched an area from Brisbane to just north of Evans Head without success. When landing at Brisbane to refuel, the propeller feathering line on the port engine failed and the aircraft was grounded. The following day, A89-277 under the command of Flt Lt P.A. Ware, arrived from Townsville with spares and ground crew to effect repairs. Sqn Ldr Tayles flew A89-277 back to Townsville with Flt Lt Ware following in the repaired A89-276 later on 8 November.Picture: Ron Cuskelly (NL129)
