Lockheed
Super Constellation VH-EAK Southern Mist about to depart Sydney
on 2 August 1955 on the Connoisseur service EM702 to Nadi, Canton
Island, Honolulu and San Francisco. The photographer, Dr Andrew Harker
and his wife Thea travelled on this flight after Mrs Harker won the
trip to Fiji as a prize on The Jack Davey Hour radio show. During
the war, Dr Harker was the chief medical officer at the RAAF/RAF base
at Waddington, UK with No 467 Squadron RAAF and No 617 Squadron RAF.
During his earlier years in the RAAF he was taught to fly by Alan Furze
who, coincidentally, was the Captain on this Qantas flight to Fiji.
