WHERE'S CONNIE?

The mortal remains of Lockheed Super Constellation N7777C (formerly VH-EAN) at the Kotzebue tip in Alaska on 8 September 1981. Photographer Geoff Goodall was hoping to visit the former Qantas Connie which had been converted into a bar but on arrival he was disappointed to hear that the aircraft had been broken up and taken to the town tip. Determined not to come away without paying his last respects, he contrived to hijack the tour bus the next morning to take this photograph. Maybe it was because of Geoff's infectious enthusiasm that the bus load of elderly American tourists never questioned why the first stop of their Arctic Scenic Wonderland Tour was the town rubbish tip!
