"Above
the note of the idling engine the sound of Hawaiian music floats
out to the Altair, and it fills the air with all that we have
seen during the last few days. It is the voice of the people
who stand on the aerodrome to bid us farewell, and all of those
who live in these islands; the voice of the hills that lie behind
and the sea that is ahead. It is Hawaii calling 'aloha oe,'
and it is wonderful to hear it intermingled with the subdued
rumbling of the Wasp."
