The
Altair is carefully brought ashore from a barge at Allhallows in the
Thames Estuary on 7 October 1935. Note the aircraft lifting bridle
in the right foreground. Note also that the aircraft is still marked
as VH-USB although it was reregistered G-ADUS the same day. Other
photos suggest that Smithy is in the dark overcoat underneath the
aircraft. It is believed that the gentleman in white under the port
wing is Tommy Pethybridge and the gentleman on the plank and closest
to the starboard mainwheel is Bob Boulton.
