The Altair ANZAC on the deck of a derrick barge alongside the starboard side of the Mariposa which was berthed to port at Wilmington Wharf 156, Long Beach. The derrick barge belonged to the Merritt-Chapman and Scott Corporation. The Mariposa arrived on the 17th June and departed on 27th June at 1700hrs with over 600 passengers and 5,000 tons of cargo. The San Pedro News Pilot reported that the loading had been delayed by an industrial dispute but the "International Longshoremen's Association had agreed to assist in loading the craft on the steamer." It also reported that the Altair was loaded on 26th June.
